Fakhrul sent to BSMMU Hospital

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital for treatment from Kashimpur jail on Tuesday morning.

Dhaka Central jail Part-2 at Kashimpur jailer Nasir Ahmed said Mirza Fakhrul Islam was sent to BSMMU Hospital by an ambulance at about 8:00am as his doctors suggested for a routine check-up.

The BNP leader has been suffering from for various health complexities, including hypertension and heart disease, for a long time, said Basanta Kumar, senior jail super of Kashimpur jail.

If physicians do not prescribe him to be admitted, Fakhrul will be sent back to jail, said the senior jail super.

On 4 January a case was filed against Mirza Fakhrul with Paltan police in bombing and vandalism charges.
Later, on 6 January, police arrested Fakhrul from Jatiya Press Club.
