Bangladeshi taken hostage by ISIS

A Bangladeshi along with eight foreigners were taken hostage by members of the Islamic group ISIS from Al-Ghani oil field south Sirte of Libya on Friday.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli identified the Bangladeshi as Helal Uddin,a resident of Jamalpur, said a Foreign Ministry media release on Monday.

ISIS gunmen invaded the Al-Ghani oil field on Friday killing 11 guards, beheading a number of them before local forces fought back to retake control.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli is trying to find out whereabouts of the abducted Bangladeshi, and it is also in close contact with National Oil Company (NOC) of Libya and the company concerned, VAOS, where the incident took place.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the incident with the Bangladesh Embassy.
