India has evidence of  Dawood Ibrahim living in Pakistan

India’s security agencies have gathered evidence to prove that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim lives in Pakistan, a report in the Hindustan Times newspaper said.

Dawood, who is wanted by India in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts that killed 257 people, and his family are based out of the upscale Clifton neighbourhood in Pakistan’s Karachi, the report added. Along with publishing what is reportedly a latest image of Dawood, the report goes on to add that this evidence on the underworld don is likely to be presented before Pakistan’s NSA Sartaj Aziz by his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval in the talks scheduled for Monday.

But the likelihood of the NSA-level talks happening is quite slim after Pakistan made it clear that it would want to speak to Hurriyat leaders ahead of the talks. India has ‘advised’ Pakistan that it would not be appropriate for Aziz to meet with separatist leaders as it “would not be in keeping with the spirit and intent of the Ufa understanding to jointly work to combat terrorism.”

The report in HT said that Indian agencies have in their possession a telephone bill in the name of Dawood’s wife Mehjabeen along with several Pakistani passports of the underworld don himself. The evidence will be seen as further substantiation of India’s stand that Pakistan has sheltered Dawood, a man against whom the Interpol has a red corner notice. The Pakistan administration, on the other hand, has repeatedly rejected reports that the 1993 blasts mastermind stays in that country.
