Russian science academy will publish book on Sheikh Hasina

A Russian science academy will publish a book on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in different languages.

The Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences will publish the book as part of its initiative to publish such books on the leaders who are changing the world, said Chief of the academy Dr Vitaly V. Naumkin.

Dr Naumkin informed this when he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office here this morning.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

Dr Naumkin said his organisation would publish the book on Sheikh Hasina in different languages including Russian, English, Arabic and Bengali.

In this connection, he informed that the Russian academy has already published a book on former Malaysian prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohammed.

At the outset of the meeting, the Russian science institute chief paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and extended his heartfelt condolences at the 40th martyrdom anniversary of the great leader.

Recalling the visit of Bangabandhu to Russia in 1974, Dr Naumkin mentioned that he worked as an interpreter during Bangabandhu's tour.

Pointing out Bangladesh's impressive success on socioeconomic fields, especially women empowerment under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said Bangladesh is a good partner in the realm of intellectual production.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled unequivocal support of Russia during Bangladesh's War of Liberation in 1971.

He also remembered the massive contribution of the Russian government to rebuilding the war-ravaged Bangladesh after its independence by providing assistance in different sectors.

Dwelling on Bangladesh's tremendous achievements in various fields, Sheikh Hasina said she has been working for the welfare of the mass people to materialise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In this regard, the Prime Minister said the main goal of Bangabandhu was to fulfill basic needs of the people of all strata including women as well as create awareness about their rights.

Sheikh Hasina also highlighted the flourishing of women leadership in the region.

PM's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, Vice- President of Marketing and External Relations of Irkut Corporation, Russia Dr Vladimir N. Sautov and Charge d' Affaires of Russian Embassy in Dhaka Anatoly Y Davydenko were present at the meeting, among others.
