Three arrested for ‘attacking custom officials, stealing 

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three persons for their alleged involvement with beating up three custom officials and snatching goods from Cargo village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on August 10.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-1 arrested the three -- Badrul Alam alias Shyamal, Prince and Papon -- from Mirpur area last night, said a short message service (SMS) floated by the elite force this morning.

The arrestees snatched 15 cartons from three trolleys after physically assaulting the custom officials on August 10, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Lt Col Tuhin, director of Rab-1.

A video footage shows that the attack was led by Shyamal and Prince. Police recovered the cartons from the courier service office of Shyamal at Uttara-1 on the same day, the Bangla daily said.

Assistant Customs Officer Shahjahan Ali, one of the victims, filed a case against eight including Shyamal and Prince on the following day, it added.
