Dhaka University gets digital music archive

Dhaka University (DU) Music Department in association with Bengal Foundation set up a digital music archive on Thursday in the department, reports BSS.
Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, formally inaugurated the archive as the chief guest.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva Nahid Chowdhury and Chairperson of the Department of Music Shahnaz Nasreen Ela spoke on the occasion.
The vice-chancellor in his speech emphasized the need for preserving songs of the past, including our glorious liberation war of 1971.
He recalled the great role and influence of music among the freedom fighters during the war of independence.
He said music has no boundary and it can touch the hearts of millions of people to inspire them to work together for the nation's building.
The educationist urged all to listen and practice music to uphold the country's rich cultural heritage.
Professor Arefin appreciated the Bengal Foundation for its assistance and hoped that this sort of collaboration would continue in future.
