Int'l conference on Bangla literature begins RU

A two day-long international conference on Bangla literature and literature of other languages in Bangladesh began at Rajshahi University (RU) today.Bangla Gobeshona Sangshad, Bangla department of Rajshahi University and Bangla Samity jointly organized the programme to promote Bangla language worldly with the slogan of 'Boichitre Oikyer Anwesha' (seeking unity in diversity).


RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the programme at senate building premises this morning around 10:00 am as the chief guest.

Speakers at the inaugurate programme said that Bangla literature have huge importances considering its range, periods, practice involved communities among Bengali-speaking people living in all around the world.

This conference has given the opportunity for monitoring closely the works written in Bangla language and matching with the works written in other languages in Bengali-colony, speakers added.

Among others former RU VC Prof Abdul Khalek, RU pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan addressed as the special guest while Khandaker Farhad Hossain, president of Bangla Gobeshona Songshod and Dean of Arts faculty, presided over the programme.

Welcome speech, goals and objectives of the conference addressed by Prof Shafiqunnabi Samadi, vice-president of Bangla Gobeshona Songshod, while secretary general of the conference committee Prof PM Shafiqul Islam conducted the programme.

About 50 articles including Bangla literature; Bangladesh, Bangla literature; West Bengal, written history of Bangla literature; limitation and promotion, and Folk literature of Bangla will be presented by the experts in 13 sessions of the two-day long conference.

Over hundred poets and literary, linguists and researchers from Bangladesh and India are taking part at the conference.
