20 parties' demo protesting today
The BNP-led 20-party alliance is staging demonstrations across the country today (Sunday) protesting at the hike in prices of gas and electricity.
As part of the programme, different components of the alliance including different front organisations of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are holding rallies and processions at places.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan in a press statement announced the programme on behalf of the 20-party alliance.
On 27 August, the government raised the gas price and power tariffs by 2.93 percent and 26.29 percent respectively at the consumer level with effect from 1 September.
