Bodi corruption cases commence  October  6

Ruling Awami League’s Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi was indicted in a graft case today over amassing illegal wealth.

Dhaka Special Judges Court-3 Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar passed the order and set October 6 to begin trial in the case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission.

Bodi moved a plea seeking discharge from the case, which was rejected. Now in bail, he was present at court this morning when the judge read out the charges before him.

There are widespread allegations that Bodi is a very influential drug lord of Cox’s Bazar, however, such claims have been stomped out sternly by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, recently.

This case was filed on August 21, 2014 with Ramna Police Station over amassing illegal wealth and concealing information in his wealth statement submitted to the anti-graft body.

According to the case statement, Bodi informed the ACC on March 20 that he along with his wife and children owned movable and immovable properties worth Tk 5.20 crore.

But his income tax return showed that they possessed properties worth Tk 16.06 crore till June 30 last year.
