A five-month pregnant woman was killed allegedly by her husband over a family feud at Maniknagar in the capital’s Mugda area early today.

The deceased Tanjila Islam Binti, wife of Shah Alam Sohag, was a resident of the area.

Police detained Sohag from the hospital and taken to Mugda Police Station this morning.

The 30-year-old victim’s uncle Farhad Hossain said Sohag had married Binti five years ago.

The couple has a four-year-old son.

Sohag used to torture Binti since after their marriage.

They locked into a quarrel over a family issue around 3:30am.

At one stage, Sohag kicked at Binti’s abdomen, leaving her critically injured.

Later, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared her dead around 4:30am.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, confirmed the incident.
