Primary Scholarship announce today

Names of the students securing scholarship in the Primary School Certificate (PCS) exams will be published on Sunday.Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman will announce the results at a press conference at his Secretariat office at noon, said Directorate of Primary Education chief Md Alamgir.

He told ,the results could be known by texting ‘DPE space Thana code space roll number’ to 16222.

A return text message will bring the result.

The government is determining primary scholarship based on the students’ PSC results since 2009. Before that, separate scholarship exams would be held.

Last year 54,412 students got scholarship at the primary termination exams. Of them 21,978 secured scholarship in talent pool and 32,434 in general category.

An official of the primary and mass education ministry said this year around 55,000 students would be offered scholarship.

A total of 2,683,781 students took the last PSC exams. Of them 2,628,083 came out successful -- 224,411 with GPA-5 scores.

A student securing scholarship in talent pool gets Tk 200 while one securing general category scholarship receives Tk 150 a month. Each of them gets another Tk 150 in a year.
