Real Madrid's last match of the season was a curious affair. Before kickoff, there were cheers for manager Carlo Ancelotti and the usual mix of whistles and applause for goalkeeper Iker Casillas from a sparse crowd in the Santiago Bernabéu. Both the home side and Getafe had nothing tangible to play for, and the result was one of the most entertaining matches of the season.

A vastly changed Real Madrid ran out eventual 7-3 winners, but the game was a sideshow played out against a melancholy backdrop.

Real Madrid signed off their Primera Division season with a wild 7-3 win over Getafe featuring yet another Cristiano Ronaldo hat trick.

The Portugal forward struck three times before half-time -- giving him a personal-best for goals this season -- but his team still did not have the lead after explosive finishes from Getafe trio Sergio Escudero, Diego Castro and Mehdi Lacen.

Second-half goals from Javier Hernandez, James Rodriguez, Jese and Marcelo earned victory but Real's season will still.
Cristiano Ronaldo set a personal record for goals in a season by scoring a hat trick in the first half of Real Madrid's season finale on Saturday.
