Carpeting works of six roads launched in Rangpur

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu at separate ceremonies launched carpeting works of six roads in the city on Monday afternoon.

He launched the road carpeting works in Bahar Kachhna, Khasbag and Mahiganj Dimla areas under Ward Nos-9, 29 and 30 at separate ceremonies respectively in the city as chief guest.

RCC Councilors Nazrul Islam Dewani (Ward No-9), Mokhtar Hossain (Ward No- 29) and Jahangir Alam Tota (Ward No-30) attended the ceremonies as special guests.

Superintending Engineer of RCC Emdad Hossain, it's Executive Engineer Azam Ali, Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners' Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu, President of District Crockery Association Ali Hossain Mollah and noted contractor Hafizur Rahman were present.

The road carpeting works are being implemented under the phase-wise
construction packages of 142 separate roads, drains, culverts, drainage systems and other works under 142 groups at the cost of Taka 33 crore from own resources of the city corporation.

The Mayor in the ceremonies said the infrastructural construction works of the roads, bridges, culverts; housing, sewerage systems and water and electricity supply lines are being conducted in the city as part of a long- term master plan.

He sought cooperation of all concerned for smooth implementation of the ongoing infrastructural development works here to turn Rangpur into an Eco- friendly and beautiful city with excellent communication networks The Mayor directed the officials and contractors concerned for ensuring the best quality of the ongoing uplift works and cautioned of stern actions if irregularities were found while conducting the infrastructural developments in the city.
