4 get life term for killing youth

A court here today sentenced four persons to suffer life term imprisonment for killing a youth at Sumadhamarich village under Ullapara upazila of the district in 2009.

The court also fined them Taka 1,000 each in default to suffer six months more of rigorous imprisonment.

Additional District and Session Judge Fazle Khoda Najir pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicted persons.

According to the court sources, the convicted persons are- Rakibul Islam, 28, son of Ayen Sarker, Abdus Salam, 26, son of late Hazrat Pramanik, Jewel Ahammed, 30, son of Shorab Ali and Abdul Jabbar, 22, son of Yasin Ali of the same area.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts slaughtered Hasmat Ali to death over previous enmity on 10 December 2009.

Ainal Haque, father of the victim, filed a murder case with Ullapara thana against six persons on December 12, 2009.

Police after investigation submitted charge sheet against them to the court.

Later, Judge Fazle Khoda Najir after examining the witnesses and evidences found the convicted persons guilty and handed down the punishment.

The judge also acquitted two accused of the case as the killing charge brought against them was not proved.
