Bangladesh Police today strongly protested the recent media reports quoting 'Ahdikar' and 'Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC') that the law enforcement agencies were involved in the extra-judicial killings in recent time.

In a statement, signed by AIG Media and Public Relation of Police Headquarters Mohammad Nazrul Islam, termed the recent news published in different newspapers accusing police of killing innocent people in the name of 'crossfire or encounter' baseless and illegal.

It said the report quoting human rights bodies are really ill-motivated, against the rule of law and also a challenge to the judiciary of the country.

"It has also tarnished the image of police both at home and abroad as no concerned courts claimed that anyone was killed in July that was a part of extra-judicial killings across the country," the statement added.

Referring to the causalities in recent time centering the political violence, it also said "Police forces are working relentlessly to save lives and properties of people. A total of 102 cops were killed in different incidents to prevent violence in 2014,"

The statement also urged all concerned specially media people to remain alert against such kinds of provocative campaign against the members of law enforcement agencies.
