Mother met her baby after 11 days

he bullet-hit ‘Baby of Nazma’ met her mother after 11 days of yearning. But the injured mother could not even touch her child undergoing ICU treatment. She just starred at her kept in the glass box in the ICU.

On 23 July, Nazma Begum was bullet-hit during a clash between members of Bangladesh Chhtara League.

She gave birth to the baby girl through surgery at Magura Sadar Hospital.

A bullet pierced the body of the premature baby while inside her mother’s womb.

The baby was later transferred to the Paediatric Surgery department at DMCH on Sunday night after her condition deteriorated.

On Monday, police arrested two more people in connection with shooting the mother. Police arrested a total of 6 six people over the incident.

The baby’s father Bacchu Bhuiyan said Nazma saw her child sleeping in a glass box at 10:00am on Monday. She then burst into tears, Bacchu added.

Doctors said the child is improving. Her jaundice is decreasing and platelet count increasing. However, she has been kept in the Special Care Baby Unit of the paediatric surgery unit as she is not out of danger yet.

DMCH child surgery department professor Abdul Hanif said the baby is improving. Her jaundice is subsiding, platelet increasing, and she is being breastfed once in two hours through a special process.
