Police killed in road accident
A police constable was killed and four others were injured as a truck hit a police vehicle in Nalka area, to the west of Banghabandhu Bridge, under Salonda thana early on Thursday.
The deceased is Moktadir,28, a resident of Godagari village of Sariaknadi upazila in Bogra district and a police constable of Sirajganj police line.
Police said the accident took place in the area around 3:30am while the truck hit the patrol car of police, leaving Moktadhir dead on the spot and four others injured.
The injured were identified as Raju Ahmmed, assistant superintendent of of police, Sirajganj, and three constables—Rakibul Islam, Sohel Rana and Tariqul Islam.
Police recovered the body and sent it Sirajganj General Hospital.
The injured were also admitted to the hospital.
However, police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee away.
Helel Uddin, officer-in-charge of Banghabandhu Bridge West Police Station, confirmed the incident.
A case was filed in this connection.
