3 lawyers alleged funding of a militant group

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of three Supreme Court advocates from Dhaka for their alleged funding of a militant group.

A team of Rab-7 picked them up from a house in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka at 11:00pm last night, Col Miftah, commanding officer of Rab-7 in Chittagong, said today.

The arrestees Barrister Sakila Farjana, Advocate Liton and Advocate Bapon are Supreme Court lawyers, the Rab officer told our Chittagong correspondent.

“They were arrested for funding of a militant outfit Shaheed Hamja Brigade,” he said.

On April 13, Rab arrests the four militant suspects conducting drives at different place in Chittagong. The photos were taken at Rab-7 headquarters in Chittagong. Star file photo
The Daily Star verified the name of Barrister Sakila Farjana as a Supreme Court lawyer but the names of two others were not found enrolled in Supreme Court registrar’s list.

The detail of the arrest would be known at a press briefing at Rab-7 headquarter in Patenga of Chittagong later in the day.
