Mirza Fakhrul gets more 6 weeks bail extended
The Supreme Court today extended for six weeks its order that had granted bail to BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three separate arson and vandalism cases.
The apex court asked Fakhrul to surrender before the lower court concerned after the six weeks expire.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order in response to a petition filed by Fakhrul seeking an eight-week extension of its July 13 bail order.
Fakhrul, now in America for treatment, recently submitted the petition to the SC through his lawyer, said the BNP leader needs at least eight weeks for his treatment.
