Fishersmen attacked on Police in Chandpur
Seven people, including four policemen, have been injured in a clash with fishermen in Chandpur.The fishermen were fishing in the Meghna River ignoring a two-month fishing embargo, aimed at protecting juvenile and brood hilsa.
Three fishermen have been arrested over Friday night’s clashes at Haringhat, police say.
Sub-Inspector Mosharraf Hossain said the fishermen attacked them with brickbats when a police patrol approached them.
Police fired several rounds into the air to take control of the situation.
The fishermen were charged with attacking police, he added.
