Making dropout students competitive-minded stressed

Dropout students from the distressed and underprivileged communities need to be brought under educational support for continuing their institutional learning.
They viewed ensuring educational rights to the dropouts children is very vital to attain the hundred per cent enrolment target for freeing the nation from the curse of illiteracy.

The observations came at a prize-giving ceremony of a daylong literary
competition for the juveniles who born in April 2000 held at Shahmukhdum Degree College in the city On Friday.

Shaw Unnayan, a rights-based development organisation, and Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) jointly organised the event where more than 120 juveniles from all eight districts under the Rajshahi division attended.

Prof Dr Sayedur Rahman Khan, former Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi
University, addressed the session as the chief guest with Mustafizur Rahman Khan, President of Shaw Unnayan, in the chair.

Principal of Shahmukhdum Degree College Prof Aminur Rahman, Editor of
Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, RU teacher Prof Dr Mourtoza Khaled, Principal of Rajshahi Women Polytechnic Institute Prof Omor Faruque and CAMPE Manager Dr Mustafizur Rahman also spoke.

The speakers said students' dropouts from primary and secondary schools couldn't be prevented without collective efforts of all concerned especially teachers, guardians and community people.

They viewed ensuring educational rights to the dropouts children is very vital to attain the hundred percent enrolment target for freeing the nation from the curse of illiteracy.

Protecting the legitimate rights of the children alongside freeing them from all sorts of violation, repression and deprivation has become indispensable for building a healthy and knowledge-based society in the days ahead.

Prof Sayedur Rahman Khan said physical and mental development of children couldn't be possible until they were protected from violence and deprivation since their early childhood.

Terming the children as the future power of the nation, he called for
ensuring equal rights for development of their latent intelligence as they constitute a significant portion of the country's total population.

Apart from this, he emphasised the need for ensuring safety and security to them and stopping early marriage in the greater national interest.
