State minister says: to install CC cameras’

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said that all high-rise buildings in the capital city would be asked to install close-circuit cameras in the wake of crude-bomb attacks from rooftops amid political violence across the country.

“All multistoried buildings in the capital city should have special security arrangements. We will request owners of high-rises, particularly those along the roads, to install CCTV cameras as there are incidents of bomb attacks from rooftops,” the minister told a briefing after presiding over a meeting on security arrangements on the occasion of the Independence Day on March 26.

The government’s decision came amid the ongoing political unrest triggered by the nationwide nonstop blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance since January 5.

In an oblique reference to Saturday’s bomb blasts at Karwanbazar immediately after prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s motorcade crossed the area on her way to Suhrawardy Udyan, Asaduzzaman said, the building owners would be held responsible in case of any such incidents of bomb blasts from the high-rises.
He said additional security measures would remain in force on the occasion of the Independence Day across the country.
