Bangladesh Railway (BR) will begin advance ticket selling for July 16 from tomorrow to ease travelling of the homebound passengers ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Earlier BR started selling advance tickets from July 9.

A passenger would be able to buy maximum four tickets and tickets once sold would not be refundable.

BR will operate 14 special train services including four special train services by the name Solakia special on Eid day. The name of the special train is given after name of the place Solakia of Kishorganj where largest eid-congregation is held every year.

Other special services will be operated for three days before Eid, from July 15 to July 17 and for seven days after Eid, from July 20 to July 26. The special train services will be operated on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route as Dewanganj special, Chittagong-Chandpur-Chittagong route as Chandpur special, Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur route as Parbatipur special and Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route as Khulna special.

Meanwhile, there will be no day-off for the inter-city train services from July 13 to the day before Eid. Bangladesh Railway will connect 169 additional passenger coaches with the existing number of coaches running for facilitating the homebound passengers. Currently BR transports about 1,80,000 passengers a day.

But on the occasion of Eid, initiative has been taken to transport nearly 2,50,000 passengers a day. The BR has taken adequate measures to prevent black-marketing of tickets.
