Dutch ambassador makes goodbye call on President

Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Gerben de Jong made a farewell call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here today.

During the meeting, the President said there is scope of expanding trade relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, President's press secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Abdul Hamid underscored the need for exchanging trade and investment delegations between the two countries for mutual benefits.

He said that the Netherlands can import medicines, ceramic products and readymade garments from Bangladesh.

The President also expressed gratitude to the people as well as the government of the Netherlands as the country was one of the first European countries to recognize Bangladesh.

Gerben de Jong expressed his gratitude to the President for extending cooperation in discharging his duty in Bangladesh.

Both the President and the ambassador expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries will be strengthened further in the days to come.
