Cultural minister pays homage to National poet

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor today paid homage to the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam placing a wreath at poet's mausoleum here marking his 39th death anniversary.

After placing the wreath, the minister said, "The national poet was linked to every sphere of our life and his songs and poems were also a great source of inspiration for our struggle for independence and self determination."

"Nazrul was generous, non-sectarian and cultured person. His writings contributed a lot to enriching the Bengali literature," he added.

Among others, acting secretary of Cultural Affairs Ministry Aktari Mamtaz, executive director of Nazrul Institute Ikram Ahmed and director general of Archeology Department M Altaf Hossain were present on the occasion.
